Pirate Captain of the Tenebris
Derrik grew up as a child and lost his father while he was young. His mother sold him into indentured servitude when she was not able to support him and his brothers and sisters (4 others) when he was five. He worked on sailing ships as common sailor, working as a common seaman. He was mistreated and beaten by the crew members and did not have any friends, mistreated and abused constantly. He turned to the sea for solace.
He eventually was transferred to a pirate ship when his merchant was raided. As a young man he was offered riches and excitement by the pirates, and he turned to that profession. He learned to pirate from that crew and became more and more proficient, eventually earning his first mate on a standard sailing ship at a young age.
His ferocity in battle caught the eye of the leader of the Tenebris, who recruited him away to serve as the pinnacle pirate ship. There he grew a following, until he eventually took over as first mate, and then finally as the captain. He is industrious, and brave in battles, even bloodthirsty. His anger controls him from time to time, which he associates with and inner monster he tries to control but sometimes cannot. He frequently uses it as a rationalization for why he does what he does.
Name is from English/German “Gifted ruler from Theodoric”
Internal Motivation
Powerful desire to be loved and admired by those around him.
External Motivation
Needs resources and power to be able to bind other captains to him. His crew is constantly challenging his power and he has had to put down several mutinies by bloody action.
